Effigy - "Tortured Souls - Resurrected" CD

$10.00 USD

Chaotic Carnage release

"Tortured Souls" was the debut demo from Michigan’s underground death metal duo, EFFIGY, originally self-released in 1993. The band featured Jay Clifton—later of Graverape and Humanity's End—who also worked as an audio engineer on albums including Unhallowed by The Black Dahlia Murder. Vocal duties were handled by Ron Holt, a relentless presence in the Michigan underground scene to this day.

EFFIGY followed the demo with a split and a full-length album before going quiet—until 2015, when they resurfaced with a new self-released album. Now, they return with what they consider the definitive version of Tortured Souls: reimagined, re-recorded, and resurrected. For the first time ever, these songs are available on pro-CDR, housed in a jewel case with a full-color, 8-page booklet.

If you, like me, love digging through the shadows of death metal history to unearth forgotten gems—this one’s for you. One of Michigan’s best-kept secrets, finally reborn.
